We believe a record of our time should live in our homes. We should be able to hold it, watch it and return to it without asking a platform for access.
That is why we are making the Dear Stranger, physical edition. The original 2026 documentary will travel on USB drives, into the hands of the people who helped it exist.
Its continued availability will not depend on an internet connection, a streaming licence or a Big Tech company keeping a server online.
As AI changes how images, voices and stories can be transformed, we want this first edition to remain a record of what we made in 2026. Future versions may evolve. They will never automatically replace the original files in your hands.

You own the physical drive and the supplied copy of the original 2026 edition for personal viewing. You can keep the files and make personal backups. Copyright and public screening rights remain separate from owning your copy.
Yes. The purpose of the physical edition is to keep the actual video files in your hands. You will need a compatible device or media player, but no streaming subscription or online login to watch those files. Live gatherings take place online, with some possible in-person encounters organized with the community.
A new release cannot remotely replace the files on your disconnected drive. We will identify this original as the 2026 edition. The drive itself is writable and can fail, so we encourage you to protect your files and keep a personal backup.
We are preparing a drive with USB-A and USB-C connectors. Playback also depends on your device’s supported video format, file system and capacity. We will publish tested requirements before shipping. Some TVs may need a separate media player or a computer connected by HDMI.
The physical edition will include original audio, selected dubbed versions and subtitles. The exact language list will be confirmed before the physical release. Live community gatherings will be primarily in English.
The package includes 24 live gatherings connected to creating the next episode. Sessions open up the documentary studio — footage, research and tools — and make room for books, human experience, art and AI. You can listen, ask questions and contribute ideas. Primarily in English, with dates shared with the community.
Yes. The package includes access to its gatherings, which may also happen in person in our filming cities or other places chosen with the community. Locations, dates and formats will be announced as they are organized. Travel and accommodation are not included.
No. We will bring books and ideas into the discussion, but the package does not include purchased copies of books. Reading selections and any materials needed will be announced ahead of the gathering.
